'Mama' is the title track from Liz's Spring 2023 debut EP.
"Mama is a song very close to my heart and is the first I ever wrote in Lingala. It's a dedication to my late Mum Georgina, who travelled to Congo to work as a midwife, where she also met my Dad Wangoy. The song was written for her when she was close to leaving this world, and I will never forget the connecting moments playing the first version of it to her on her death bed. It's been over a decade for me to feel ready to share this through my art, and feels such a vital way to remember her as well as honour my own journey with grief." Liz Ikamba
Chorus translation:

English translation:
Mama, we feel pain
Your pain is also our pain
Mama, where is
The miracle, the miracles
Mama, we feel pain
Your pain is also our pain
You gave me wisdom
You gave birth to me strong
But Mother, I’m like a child
Who’s lost their milk
We will walk with you, walk with you
We will walk with you, walk with you
We will walk with you, walk with you
We will walk with you, walk with you
My Mother
(spoken)
Mama
Even though you’ve gone
We won’t forget you
You remain in our hearts
Don't be afraid, don't be afraid
I won't be afraid
Don't be afraid, don't be afraid
I won't be afraid
We will walk with you, walk with you
We will walk with you, walk with you
We will walk with you, walk with you
(continues to end)
Mother of mine
I won't be afraid
Mother of mine
I won't be afraid
Walk, walk
You're still in our hearts
Walk, walk
You're still in our hearts
I won't be afraid
Walk, walk
You're still in our hearts
My Mother
Walk, walk

This album is transporting and music unlike anything I have heard before. Before listening, I would never have guessed what 'sci-fi/fantasy pastoral experimental pop' sounds like, but now I know! Liz Ikamba
